lyrics

You opened up the liminal
Against the dusk the hour stalled
The owl called to end it all
Your response was visceral

Until the stars lead you home
Bacchus dances in the dark
Inscribes light in a dying poem
Pushes through the watermark
You watched the headlights on the road
The webs of fire opened up
Glints and splinters you tried to hold
But the prisms wouldn’t stop
The prisms wouldn’t stop
The prisms wouldn’t stop
The prisms wouldn’t stop

To the fear of the winter the nomad closed one eye
In the evenings he heard coyotes licking the last bones clean
Now the moon came down and rested light on the grasses
The seed caps molded the mist as if crying the stench of the morning drift
I closed my eyes against the blankets
The young ones were taking shelter again from the monster sounds
The nomad told me stories about the chanting
The sounds without rhythm
A yearner’s voice, persistent and surprisingly deep
How the forest covered their eyes and ears
The smoke from their mouths mixed with the mist
Each one in exile from the other

Negation is doubt
Negation is doubt
In the nothing, find the world
Negation is doubt
Negation is doubt
In the nothing, find the world

I suddenly turned into that ambling wanderer
A dancer in the feathers of light
The hunger of the swampy ground pulled me down
Nothing like this had ever happened before
My eyes squinted; my lips tightened
As I sunk, I thought about the nomad
His one closed eye looking out through the inside
A witness to the changes covering us

Negation is doubt
Negation is doubt
In the nothing, find the world
Negation is doubt
Negation is doubt
In the nothing, find the world
